The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park hosts community cycling challenge

Dubai, UAE, 21 October 2022: The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, implemented by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), hosted the Community Cycling Challenge organised by Peloton Events, with the participation of 11 teams from across the UAE. The event was held under the patronage of the Dubai Sports Council and spanned 66 kilometres. The Solar Park is the largest single-site solar park in the world and will have a production capacity of 5,000 megawatts (MW) by 2030.

HE Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, highlighted that DEWA is keen to encourage community members to adopt a healthy and vibrant lifestyle, in line with the wise leadership’s vision to make sports part of Emirati society. “Our vision at DEWA is guided by the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, to make sports an enabler of sustainable development, a lifestyle and daily practice that contributes to improving the health of community members and promoting happiness and positive energy. This supports efforts to establish Dubai as the preferred place to live, work and visit,” added Al Tayer.

The participants in the challenge praised DEWA’s efforts to promote harmony and cultural rapprochement among all members of society. They also pointed to DEWA’s fruitful efforts to ensure a brighter and more sustainable future. This is by supporting the future of sustainable energy through pioneering global projects, such as the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
